The Seaside

Up

The ocean is about 5 to 10 minutes' walk from the house.  Although this is not a swimming area except for the adventuresome, it is really spectacular.

Everything is a matter of taste, eh?  If you want white sands, thousands of ugly, white-whale North Americans, this "beach" is not your place.

However, if you want to spend time where the landscape is awe inspiring with a group of friends, alone or with a special person ... not too shabby!

We spent an afternoon down there recently, walking on the volcanic rock bared by the low tide, looking at the tidal pools and admiring the huge palms beside the sea.

A tough afternoon at the office was had by all!  And then we retired to the pool back at the house to have a swim and a couple beer!

If you want to swim in the ocean, Go down to TAMBOR BEACH (less than 10 minutes by car), where the brown sand (sorry, not white sand!) beach is as free of riptides and other dangers as you are likely to find on the ocean.  There, too, you can avoid being with gadzillions of North Americans if you want to (for that matter, there aren't many Costa Ricans either - absolute hell for some people to have a stretch of beach by yourself, I suppose!)
