Tambor is just a tiny little village - but the services for tourists in and about Tambor would be suited to a much larger place!  One thing:  Unfortunately, crime is so infrequent that the nearest police station is 20 minutes away at Cobano (terrible to think of a place where the crime rate is that low, eh?)  Really bad for the lawyer business (no lawyer's offices in Tambor, sorry!)

- If you don't want to rent a car for some or all of your visit, you can call a licensed cab company.  Or call a "private [pirate] cab".  We'll give you some suggestions, on request.

- medical - Cobano clinic - but in CR the doctors actually do house calls (believe it or not!)

- Car rental - BUDGET has an office in Tambor - good 4x4's and regular vehicles are available at fairly reasonable rates

- Remax/Tambor Realty - for the booming land market.

TOURS - a number of tour businesses, which will take you fishing, snorkeling, horse back riding, ATV trips, trips thru the local nature preserve, scuba diving, you name it!  Just ask at Cristina's or at the Beachcomber or your friendly neighbourhood pirate taxi.  Shop around (including asking about reputation for good service and good equipment and vehicles (if applicable))  The biggest/brightest signs don't necessarily prove to be the best!

- "Super" Market - it is tiny but most of of the basics -and it's a liquor store. A pretty decent supermarket is in Cobano (20 minutes away).

The Italian Trattoria - More Italian than the restaurants in Italy!

The Whale Bay (Bahia Ballena) Yacht Club Restaurant (no club, but decent food and a lovely setting!)

The H & B Restaurant is perhaps a kilometer north of Tambor.  The food is good, service is excellent and the prices are much better than we're used to paying in North America!

- Cobano

    bank, pharmacy, hardware stores, plant nursery, medical clinic, tourist traps, restaurants 

The Caoba (above) - excellent food

 and really reasonably priced!

Club Campestre Rodel ("Rodel Country Club) - a local bar/picnic/party spot
