The village of Tambor has a number of truly great restaurants
and bar/restaurants.
For typical Tico (Costa Rican) food, try the
ALKAMAR. Run by Anna and
Anselmo, it's menu is fairly small and everything is good! A good
dinner can be had for as little as $7.00 (2012) and a beer is about $2.20.
It is located on the north side of Tambor,
Right opposite the Alkamar is the
H&B Restaurant (likewise very good
food - more of a chef's kitchen, tonier ambience and decent prices for what
you get - especially when compared to North American prices for a similar
class of restaurant).

Another excellent Tico-style restaurant is a little farther
the north on the way toward the village of Panica (you can get a cab to take
you as its location is not immediately apparent to the eye!) Called
EL RANCHO DE LOS GEMELOS (the
Twins' Grass Hut??), it is only a few minutes beyond Alkamar and the H&B
The Whale Bay (Bahia Ballena) Yacht Club
Restaurant (no club, but decent food and a lovely setting!)
is a ways off the main highway. Lovely decor but prices are somewhat
higher than is usual around Tambor
