Wood Factory

If you have some time left before you have to check in at the airport, get your driver or a taxi to take you to the wood factory in Alajuela - it's maybe 15 minutes from the San Jose International Airport ("Juan Santa Maria" is actually the name of the airport but most non-Spanish speakers find it easier to just call it the San Jose airport).

This may sound hokey but it really isn't.  The "souvenir store" is what draws the eye of most tourists.  But, if you ask them, they will take you on a tour of the factory - the rarest of woods are sitting in there drying sheds, the making of the various items is interesting as hell and heir wood carver does stuff unlike anything you've ever seen elsewhere, in all likelihood!
