Ferry

Get ready for a beautiful trip across the Gulf of Nicoya - it takes about an hour and fifteen minutes. But first you may have to wait an hour or two (or three if your timing is incredibly bad) for the next ferry.

If you are hungry or thirsty, the restaurant right next to the ferry landing is cheap and the food is really good. The view from its second floor location is excellent - not just the sea but all the activity in the street.

If the ferry is leaving too soon to sit and enjoy the view from the Mar Abierto ("Open Sea") restaurant, they can usually whip up a Tico meal to go (like fried rice and beans with prawn) in just a few minutes.

Or the street vendors sell fabulous BBQ'd shishkabobs with a burrito-style wrap!  Good, fast and cheap!
